Fechin’s finish on a high note
ST FECHINS HUNTERSTOWN ROVERS 5-15 3-9
A first-half blitz helped St Fechins overcome Hunterstown Rovers in this Division 2 clash at Beaulieu Sunday afternoon.
Rovers went into the game with their playoff place already secured while St Fechins knew they were unable to break into the top four regardless of the result, and it was the home side who showed the greater desire as they finished their league season on a positive note.
Hunterstown got off to a flying start and had 1-4 on the board inside six minutes with the goal coming from Alan Landy. However, they managed just one further point from Muiris O Suilleabhain before the break.
All the action was at the other end of the pitch as the Fechins fired in four goals to lead by 4-11 to 1-5 at half-time.
Rovers fought back in the second half and added late goals from Robbie Brennan and Paul Carrie but a comeback was always beyond them as the Fechins completed victory with a fifth goal.
