Champion angler Eoin continues to catch the eye

-

MULTIPLE Irish champion Eoin Rogers continues to catch the headlines after another outstanding few weeks was topped off by a great performance at the Under-15 World Coarse Angling Championships earlier this month.

Braving searing heat of up to 45 degrees near Bologna in northern Italy, the 13-year-old Ardee Community School pupil held his nerve to secure a top-10 finish in a field of some 70 anglers from 20 countries.

That latest success follows on from a remarkable run of victories at home which has seen Eoin complete a unique ‘Grand Slam’ in the Under-15 age group, having won the All-Ireland Canal Championship, Float Championship, Feeder Championship and IADA All-Ireland Championship.

In the most recent of those, the Canal Championship held on the Royal Canal, Eoin brought in a catch of 7lb 6oz, almost double the weight of the second-placed competitor.

Looking ahead, Eoin continues to compete on the national stage against much older rivals, with the IADA Under-18, NCFFI Under-15 and NCFFI Feeder championships all on the horizon.

Eoin’s father Eamon Rogers, himself an accomplished angler, would like to thank Gavin Walsh (manager) and Eoin’s sponsors SENSAS Ireland for their ongoing support.
