McHugh’s Venue will be hosting Metallitia and Slippery When Wet this week

TIRED of tin whistles? Bored with bodhrans? Fatigued by flutes and fiddles?

Then rock on down to McHugh’s Venue where an entirely different palette of entertainm­ent awaits...

First up on Wednesday, 15th August, are legendary Drogheda metal outfit, Metallitia, perennial ‘Master of Tributes’ who have been dominating the Irish metal scene now for almost 2 decades. Fronted by storied guitar maestro Flash Murphy of this parish, said notorious outfit also boasts the services of Ireland’s No 1 independen­t cider manufactur­er Richie McScrumpy, plus 2 other discredite­d confederat­es in Paddy Hoey and Jimmy Brennan. The lads don’t play too many shows these days so it promises to be another milestone in their burgeoning local history.

Then on Friday, 17th August, comes the return to Drogheda of highly regarded Bon Jovi tribute act, Slippery When Wet. Fronted by one of Ireland’s outstandin­g vocalists in Carlow man, Col Bon Jovi, the band also feature the talents of top local musician Kieran McDonnell, plus other members of many of the country’s best bands of the last 20 years.. Expect all the hits including Livin’ On A Prayer, You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead or Alive, to name a few.
