Debate on Drogheda’s city future

-

THE question of Drogheda City Status and the Governent’s 2040 plan will be discussed at a public meeting on Wednesday 29 August in The Westcourt Hotel, Drogheda, at 7.30pm where interested parties and stakeholders will engage in a panel discussion followed by a Q&A session.

Entitled ‘Drogheda’s Journey on the 2040 Plan’, organisers feel that the town is being left out of major national funding without a ‘city’ title. ‘Drogheda is Ireland’s largest town, yet is being treated like a village,’ claimed Mayor Frank Godfrey.

‘We need to achieve city status so as to access funding that we would be entitled to and which could transform the town in many ways, from increased investment to cultural activities,’ he continued. ‘We must stand up and fight for the town – or city – and attract future investment and jobs.’

Members of the public are invited to attend this meeting which will focus on the future of Drogheda.
