Wee County to host vintage show at Drumshallo­n Forge

THE Wee County vintage show takes place on August 26 at Drumshallo­n Forge on the Ballymaken­ny Road.

It runs from 12-6pm and will have something for everyone. Exhibitors are expected from around the country and they’ll have everything from tractors, old and new, to vintage cars, stalls, dog show, threshing, etc.

Mell Knock trip

THE Mell parish trip to Knock takes place on Sunday

September 16.

Coach departs from the Lourdes church at 7.45am and then 8am from Mell church.The fare is €20.

Farewell Fr Maciej

A farewell mass will be held for Fr Maciej Zacharek CC at the start of September as the popular parish priest departs St Peter’s Parish for Dundalk.

Fr Maciej has been reassigned to St Patrick’s by Archbishop Eamon Martin, with all of the local parishione­rs sorry to see him leave and wishing him every blessing on his new appointmen­t.

The farewell mass has been arranged for Saturday September 1st at 7.30pm in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The mass will be followed by refreshmen­ts.

Match for Jimmy

Jimmy Maguire, the well-known and popular local soccer stalwart, will be remembered this week as two clubs close to his heart battle it out in a memorial match held in his name at Marian Park.

Drogheda Town FC, of which he was a founding member, and Duleek FC will face off on Wednesday August 22nd at Marian Park in a match to honour Jimmy, who was named the club’s joint honourary president, alongside Joe Furness, many years ago.

The medals and trophies that will be handed out on the night have been kindly sponsored by John Cowan of Trend Trophies in Newcastle, England.

Kick off at Marion Park is at 7.45pm and Drogheda Town FC hope as many people as possible come out to pay tribute to one of Drogheda Town’s greats.
