Percy French in Village Hotel

-

August 1987

THE recently organised Percy French supper concert in the Village Hotel was such a splendid success that there are plans to run it again at the end of August.

Over 150 people turned up for the old fashioned party which was described as an ‘amazing success’ by its organiser Olive Johnston.

The youngest member of the cast was Fourteen year old Wendy Reilly while Jim Balfe, Teddy McConnon, Colm Devine, Olive Johnston, Maureen Reilly, Sarah O’ Hagan, Netty McCormick and Dick Murphy were also performing on the night. Gavan Kierans handled the lighting with continuity by Jane- Callan. The musical accompaniment was provided by Trinity College music student Fergal Caulfield from the Chord Road.

The tables were shoved together at the concert with the audience joining in the song. Indeed Olive Johnston said they could not get them to go home they enjoyed themselves so much.
