Team Swatt take the league honours

-

THERE was great excitement in the Tollstone ahead of the announcement of the leading teams in Duleek & District AC’s Supreme Clean Captain’s League.

After the points to be tallied up from months of races, Team Swatt were revealed as the winners and recipients of the Supreme Clean Captain’s League Trophy. Team Cool Runnings took second place and third place went to Team Born to Run.

Elsewhere, last Sunday week the guitars were tuned and strumming away for the Dublin Rock n Roll Half Marathon, the popular 13.1-mile race which entertains athletes with live bands every mile and provides a complementary beer on the finish line.

A busload of athletes from Duleek & District AC went to Dublin to compete in the final race of the Supreme Clean league, and with many of the teams neck and neck in the standings, the pressure for points had many of the teams out in full force.

The tough course didn’t deter Aileen Teeling from digging deep and she reaped the benefits by setting a personal best, while the long training runs paid off for Tara Devine and Helen Doyle who also set PBs for the distance.
