SISTER Moyra Martin was born in Ardee, Co. Louth in 1927. She trained as a nurse-tutor after joining MMM in 1946. In 1953, she was assigned to Nigeria, where she served for 11 years.
She was a senior tutor in Nairobi, Kenya for 3 years before being assigned to Dareda, Tanzania.
Sister Moyra returned to Ireland in 1978. She was involved in mission awareness work in several dioceses and also did relief work as a nurse tutor. In 1989 she moved to Dublin and for 16 years did pastoral work in Mountview Parish in Clonsilla.
Sister Moyra moved to Beechgrove in 2006, where she was sacristan in the Motherhouse and helped with other duties. In 2016 she moved to Aras Mhuire for nursing care. She died there peacefully on 13 August 2018.
