Mayor proved to be a popular individual

-

MAYOR Frank Godfrey says he’s delighted with the reaction his efforts at the Fleadh received.

He was almost as popular as the gardai, enjoying the odd dance and sing-song with revellers.

‘It was a special week and I was delighted to be involved,’ he stated.

He says he hopes more ‘ quality shops’ can now be secured for West Street and he’d love to see the Central Bar on Peter Street opened for accommodation by next year. ‘It could be a real focal point,’ he added.

He aso suggested music on boats on the Boyne and more use if Laurence’s gate as a concert venue.

‘ The people around Bolton Square were magnificent and put out flowers and bunting. They did a great job.’
