Thatch is looking the part
COUNCILLOR Paul Bell has welcomed the ongoing restoration works on the “Thatch Pub” Donore Road which are now at an advanced stage.
‘I was disappointed that the works could not be completed prior to Fleadh 2018. But as promised these major works will be completed by end of September 2018 and of course well in time for Fleadh 2019.
‘ The thatching is progressing extremely well under the direction of local master thatcher Peter Childs and it looks super, giving a good understanding of what the final product will look like,’ said Bell.
“I do hope that historic cottage will be brought into use as so much structural work was necessary as the roof was near collapse and almost lost to the people of Drogheda forever. I am look forward to the completion of this painstaking work and commend all those involved in saving this building for future generations to enjoy.’
