Fleadh proves that Drogheda can be a ‘niche’ location for worldwide travellers

THE 2018 Fleadh Cheoil proved that Drogheda has the ability to become a true tourist destination.

The wide main street, the roads in and out of town, the things to do and see, the leisure facilities, it has the lot.

Down in Dingle, they have rightly claimed the title of Ireland’s top Foodie town (below).

Each year, a wonderful man - and he’s from Termonfeckin - Artie Clifford - heads up the Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards in Dingle as part of a food festival and the place draws thousands as a result.

Drogheda can certainly do something along the same lines - on a grander scale - when the days of the Fleadh leave us behind after next August.

The Fleadh event has sparked a great pride in the town and that will be sustained over the coming 12 months as we prepare for another eight days of partying.
