Bridie Maxwell’s passion for her own hometown endures
Drogheda; my town upon the River Boyne
Oh Drogheda, my Drogheda Upon the River Boyne You are the greatest town With city status close in view
You are the town I love so much
The town that I call mine You are my Drogheda, my Drogheda
My heritage, my fame
Steeped in history with bloodied battles on the Boyne With many dead and maimed The Cromwell fiend who did this deed
A scourge to Irish shores, the pillock we abhor
But we rose again to greatest heights
And now we demand of our rights
For a town so magnificent We need supporting power
We need our Borough Council back
We need it right away We need all our corporation and councilmen
To stay right here where they are in Drogheda, their very own town
We also need financial support For we have been ignored For far too long, give our Drogheda
Back its dignity, there is no greater town
Oh Drogheda, my Drogheda Upon the River Boyne You are the town I love so much
The town that I call mine
You have my heart in your Strong stone grip and I don’t mind a bit
Because, because I love you so
Oh Drogheda, my home town
