Dunleer’s Mulligan makes his mark

-

DUNLEER AC’s Micheal Mulligan didn’t waste any time in making his mark on the M6 category after winning a medal at the first attempt at the Tullamore Half-Marathon last Saturday.

The event incorporated the Leinster Half-Marathon Championships and it was in that competition that Mulligan claimed bronze for third place thanks to a time of 1hr 35min 24sec.

As well as being a fine athlete for his club, Mulligan is also a dedicated coach and committee member as well as chairman of the Louth Athletics Board.

Elsewhere, the final sports day of the year hosted by Ardee & District was a huge success despite a few drops of rain, and the Dunleer AC juveniles had a great outing once again.

There were medals and trophies across the board, with the girls team of Leah Rooney, Danielle Brennan, Vanessa Brennan, Grace Fitzpatrick, Aeyla Orr and Helen Mc Entee performing very well in the sprints and middle distance races.

The boys had many placings also in the long jump, shot putt, sprints, middle distance and relays. Among their medal winners were Conor Brennan, Declan Mc Entee, Sam O’Neill, Max Lavery, Lucas Lavery, Dáire Mathews, Edward Mc Entee, Matthew Mc Entee, Pádraig Mathews, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Darragh Rooney and Karlis Kaugars.
