Mannan Castle will be holding an end-of-summer event for juveniles this coming Saturday. There will be golf at 3pm, followed by the presentati­on of prizes and fun at 6pm, and weather permitting there will be a barbecue. Parents are invited to attend the presentati­on at 6pm.

Mannan Castle hosted The Rose McKeown Interclub Friendly Cup (mixed fourball) played between Mannan Castle, Concra Wood and Nuremore Golf Clubs.

The cup was donated by Gene McKeown and family and prizes were sponsored by Cathal Short, Bureau de Change, Crossmagle­n.

Mannan Castle were the winners with 196 points and Nuremore finished second, with Concra Wood in third place.

Mannan Castle’s winning team consisted of Captain Tommy Duffy, Lady Captain Gill Rouiller, David MacGuinnes­s, Rita O’Loughlin, Jimmy McMahon, Carol McMahon, Peter Marron, Teresa Butler, Lenny McKitteric­k, Imelda Hanratty, Thomas Gartlan and Angela Gartlan.

The first-placed team were Peter Marron and Teresa Butler (Mannan Castle) with 44 points and second went to Shane Cassidy and Helena Coen from Nuremore with 41 points.

LAST weekend we had one of the biggest weekends in Seapoint Pitch & Putt’s history when we hosted the Irish Life Irish Internatio­nal Open 2018. It was a great success, with 162 players competing over the course of the weekend.

Seapoint would like to thank everyone who played, especially all the overseas players who helped make the weekend. We would also like to thank all of our sponsors, especially the title sponsor Irish Life.

Today (Tuesday) Seapoint Pitch & Putt Club will host an Internatio­nal Challenge match, Ireland v Catalonia. There will be a Ladies team and a Juvenile team and we are proud to announce that two of our members are on the teams, Noelene Bedford and Luke Murphy. Your support on the day would be most welcome.

There will be no competitio­n in Seapoint at the weekend due to the Louth Down Monaghan Matchplay taking place in Channonroc­k. Times can be found on the Louth County Board Facebook page and www.seapointpi­tchandputt. com later in the week when they become available.
