BELLEWSTOWN DRAWS 3,000
TWO beautiful evenings on the hill attracted a crowd of over 3,000 race goers for the August ‘ last hurrah of the summer’ festival.
People flocked to the hill of Crocofotha to enjoy some great racing and catch up with friends old and new at Ireland’s most picturesque race track.
Wednesdays feature race the Thatch Bar & Restaurant Handicap was won by the the A.P. O’ Brien trained Astonmer mounted by Donnacha O’Brien.
Thursday’s feature race the Bar One Racing Mullacurry Cup was won by Boot Camp ridden by Davy Russel and trained by Gordon Elliot.
The last race on Thursday evening was the Woods Financial (Ladies) Flat race with each of the twelve female jockeys who took part in the race receiving a goody bag courtesy of McCartan’s Pharmacy in Scotch Hall Drogheda.
The Best Dressed competition was on Thursday evening which was judged by top milliner Suzanne Ryan with the help of Dawn Finnegan and Dawn L.A Blog and Sinead Collier. Emma-Jane Flynn from Termonfeckin won a trip to Sorrento in Italy courtesy of Topflight Holidays (Ireland). Winner Best Dressed Male was Gary Carter from Newry who won a watch from Bernard English Goldsmith in Drogheda.
Also on Thursday night, General Manager Kevin Coleman was awarded the key to Bellewstown in recognition to his service to Bellewstown Races over the last 21 years.
