Val Kerr takes his spot on Ardee Commissioners
NEWSAGENT, Mr. Val Kerr (Sliabh Breagh and John Street) was elected at a meeting of the Ardee F.F. on Monday night to replace the late Mr. Jimmy Malone, Bridge Street on Ardee Town Commissioners and on the County Council. Mr. Kerr, who is the present chairman of the party locally, is a former member of the Commissioners’ body.
He is also well known for his involvement in community activities. Deputy Seamus Kirk presided. Mr. Kerr’s selection as Co. Council nominee has to be ratified at a meeting of the Ardee Electoral Area taking place shortly in Dunleer. But this is regarded as something of a formality. For the Commissioner’s vacancy, he defeated Mr. Fintan Malone (nephew of the deceased’s) and for the Co. Council, he beat Miss Madge Martin.
