Complaints over market
Dear Sir,
From time to time the residents of the Potato Market (right) have suffered much annoyance from the visits of hobby-horses, circuses, and other such itinerant shows, but the climax was reached last week-end, when the Drogheda Corporation, through its officials, set the Market Square, to a travelling menagerie.
I am not going to harrow the feelings Of your readers by describing all the disgusting details in connection with the preparation of food for the animals, or the intolerable stench which pervaded the atmosphere, but, in common with other residents in the locality, I would like to know why it is that the Fair Green, where there are no houses, is not allotted as a “pitch” for travelling showmen.
Yours, RATEPAYER.
