FAREWELL FR. AIDAN

Last weekend, Fr. Aidan Murphy celebrated his final Masses in both Parish Churches. He has now departed for the Parish of Coalisland in Co. Tyrone. During his time in Termonfeckin, Fr. Aidan oversaw a number of changes in our Parish and made many of the Holy Celebrations very memorable. We hope you enjoyed your time here Fr. Aidan and we wish you every success in your new Parish.

LOUTH LADIES.

A one point victory over Derry ensured the Louth Ladies a place in the All Ireland Junior Football Final in Croke Park on September 16th. It was great to see St Fechin’s represented on the Louth Ladies team and congratulations to Roisin Kavanagh, Becky Howell, Ceire Nolan and Catherine Mc Glew who contributed to that fine Semi-Final victory. They now play Limerick in the final and following the recent All Ireland Hurling Final result, Limerick fans will be looking to their Ladies to increase the Silverware but hopefully this will be stopped by the Louth Ladies. We wish them every success in the final.

ST. FECHIN’S

Hopefully we will see more Silverware heading to Pairc Naomh Feichin over the coming weeks as both the Intermediate Football and Senior Hurling teams will be in action in their respective county semi-finals. The Footballers will take on Naomh Fionnbarra and the Hurlers will face Naomh Moninne. Again, the very best of luck to both teams. Meanwhile the All Weather Pitches at Pairc Naomh Feichin are available to hire. For bookings, contact Mary at 0860802367.

There are classes for all standards and beginners are very welcome. Meanwhile well done to the Over 35s Mixed Set Dancing team on their performance in the Fleadh competition. JULIANSTOWN COMMUNITY GARDEN.

Well done to the great Community Association in Julianstown and surrounding district for providing an excellent day in the Community Garden on Sunday August 26th last as part of the celebrations of Heritage Week. The group put on a lively entertaining event in the Garden with willow-craft making lessons for both adults and children, while a historic talk was also presented on the history of the Nanny River and the Julianstown area.

This beautiful garden, facing the Laytown Road in Julianstown, has got to be visited to actually see the magnificent work that has been put into it by the local residents. The garden is really educational, informative and entertaining. It was also great to see that there were families at this event from the Refugee Centre at nearby Mosney, integrating with those of the local community. This was very apt, as the title of this year’s National Heritage Week was `Sharing Stories`. Well done to all concerned.
