Drogheda-born Colin O’Donoghue and Termonfeckin native Evanna Lynch are both being hotly tipped for high-profile roles in America.

“Once upon a Time” star Colin, son of Con and Mary O’Donoghue, is hoping to ‘ hook’ the title role of Superman, now that Henry Cavill has stepped down.

And Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter movies is hoping to spread a little magic as she joins the cast of ‘Dancing with the Stars’.

The former Greenhills student will be on the dance card for season 27 of the popular ABC show when it returns later this month and has been partnered with professional dancer Keo Motsepe.

27-year-old Evanna took to Twitter when she was announced and said, “I. Am, So. Excited!”

She is best known for playing the cookie school pal of Harry Potter film franchise from 2007 to 2011.

She was one of 15,000 hopefuls that turned up at an open casting call in London to audition for the coveted role in Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix.

She went on to appear in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts I and II.

Meanwhile Colin has millions of fans around the world, for his dynamic and intriguing interpretations of Hook (in a modern-day Peter Pan) with a swashbuckling performance that has captivated audiences worldwide, turning him into a screen star and heartthrob.

After stints on The Tudors, The Clinic, and Fair City, O’Donoghue made his feature film debut alongside Anthony Hopkins, following a successful self-made audition tape landed him the role in the American Box Office hit, ‘ The Rite.’

Although featuring in a number of films and TV shows, also including ‘Home for Christmas’ ‘Storage 24’, ‘ The Dust Storm’ and most recently ‘Carrie Pilby’, the former pupil of Dundalk Grammar School is now most well-known worldwide for his portrayal of Captain Hook in ABC’s 6-time Emmy winning hit TV show ‘Once Upon a Time.’

O’Donoghue was also co-founder of Drogheda rock band, ‘ The Enemies’ in which he played guitar and vocals but had to leave in 2013 due to his acting success.

His proud Dad Con shared the reports on his Twitter account yesterday but made no comment until any confirmation is forthcoming.
