Playgrounds, supermarket, medical centre all to be included
AN extension of planning permission has been granted by Louth County Council for up to 2,000 new homes on the Ballymakenny Road/ Twenties Lane, Yellowbatter and Moneymore area.
Moffett Investment Holdings ULC sought an extension on their 10 year permission for a mixed use development comprising a total of 527 dwellings and a civic/commerical neighbourhood centre. The neighbourhood centre includes a supermarket, a pub, restaurants and a coffee shop.
They are also planning two playgrounds on the site of c16.27 hectares bounded generally by Twenties Lane to the East; Drogheda VEC lands and a residential scheme under construction to the south.
Eileen Kelly has also secured an extension for permission within the townland of The Twenties, Drogheda. The development will consist of a total of 613 residential units managing the State’s own lands to develop new homes, and regenerate under-utilised sites.
Four sites in Drogheda are on the list, Scarlet Street, presently under construction, as well as the two Ballymakenny sites and at Boice Court in Mell.
The Mell site is described as 1.49 hectacres over 17.48ha.
The development also involves the provision of 1.96ha of public open space and the provision of a total of 1,163 surface, basement and podium car parking spaces.
John Mathews has sought permission for 204 residential units and a creche facility on lands measuring 6.16ha at Yellowbatter, North Drogheda Environs.
Kevin Sands has also been granted an extension for plans on a site of 15.53ha. and neighbours St Joseph’s school. Work had been expected to start on the project but has since been delayed.
One of the Ballymakenny sites is to the left of the entrance to Forest Grange and is 3.69 hectacres in size and has residential planning.
The other Ballymakenny site adjoins the Castle The development will comprise a neighbourhood centre comprising four and five storey over basement blocks with a six storey corner element. A supermarket, medical centre, cafe/ bars are also included with 598 dwellings.
Planning permission is also sought for the erection of a temporary dual frontage sign of 8sqm fronting onto Ballymakenny Road. Manor estate and is 2.93 hectacres in size.
The LDA has an initial pipeline of State land which is capable of delivering 10,000 homes, with 3,000 of those homes on lands which have already been secured. The Agency is already in the process of expanding its portfolio.
