Archbishop Martin to celebrate mass in Dominican

TUESDAY September 18 promises to be a big night for the Dominican Community in Drogheda.

Archbishop Eamon Martin (right) will celebrate mass in St Magdalene’s Church on Dominick Street on the night to mark a special occasion for the church.

It is exactly 140 years since Archbishop McGettigan celebrated the first mass in the then new church.

The mass, at 7.30pm, will also see a wreath laid at the resting place of Drogheda born Fr Meadthe at the side of the church. He was the one responsible for the construction. The Boyne Folk will also play at the mass.
