Bowling days at the Stadium
Dear Editor,
September 5th was a beautiful sunny day for the first ever lawn bowls competition in the Lourdes Stadium on the outdoor all-weather bowling green. Louth Local Sports Partnership hosted the event with Barry Casey - the Community Sports Development Officer for Louth taking the lead. Shay Carberry from the Irish Lawn Bowls Association was also in attendance.
It was a mixed open event with 42 competitors on the day. The players were from all over the county with Collon, Dundalk and Drogheda clubs represented in the competition. A special word of thanks to Paul Keogh who was a great help with organising the teams and games during the event.
Louth Local Sports Partnership hopes the competition will springboard more interest in lawn bowls throughout Louth going forward.
For more information on the next bowls event or times for when you can use the Lawn Bowls area at the Lourdes Stadium Drogheda, please contact Niamh Pentony, Louth Sports Unit, Lourdes Stadium 041-9876101 or email Niamh. pentony@louthcoco.ie
