GLEN EMMETS

IN the IFC Relegation play-off we secured a second consecutive season at Intermediate level for the first time ever when beating Na Piarsaigh in Darver on Friday.

Well done to the team and management and thanks to Derrick Johnson, Fergus Barnett and Seany Lynch for all your efforts this year.

Hard luck to Aoife Russell and her Louth Ladies teammates and management, including Brigid Russell, who lost out to Limerick Ladies in the final in Croke Park, on Sunday. It was a huge achievement to get so far and you have made your club and community very proud!

Our defibrillator was used on Saturday to help save a man’s life. Please be aware of the location of our defibrillator on the north wall of our clubhouse, facing the car park. In times of emergency every second counts.

Our defibrillator was only moved to an outside location earlier this year to make it more accessible in an emergency. To move it outside it needs to be stored in a heated compartment. We purchased this with funds raised from our 5k run in April - and aren’t we glad we did now! We are very lucky, as a community, that we now have a Ddefibrillator at either end of the village and also one in the school.

Club gear is available online, including jerseys, training tops, shorts, tracksuit bottoms, half-zips, body warmers, hats, bags etc!

Numbers drawn in last week’s lotto were 2, 7, 20, 29 and the lucky dip winners of €25 were Ruth McCabe, Ann Carolan, Maura Mallon and BP.

The jackpot stands at €2,500 for this Tuesday night’s draw in The Morning Star, Tullyallen.

JOHN MITCHEL’S

NUMBERS drawn in last Tuesday’s lotto were 3, 23, 27, 28 and the five €20 winners were Jim Hanratty (c/o G Matthews), Marta McCourt (c/o P Maguire), Laura Gallagher (c/o G Gallagher) and Ann Marie Byrne and Michael Malone (both c/o C Byrne).

John Mitchel’s lotto tickets are available from Landys Irish Harp, Ardee PO or from any committee member.

The club held our end-of-season Juvenile Presentation last Friday where the children all had a great party and were presented with medals and tops. All our Juveniles put in a fantastic year at training and competed in Louth GAA blitzes at most ages.

If you would like any details on our Juvenile activities or would like to make enquires about next year, contact coaching officer Frieda Halpenny at 087-6962295.

John Mitchel’s are looking for ladies and girls of all ages who would like to play GAA or maybe even just train with the club. Contact Frieda on 087-6962295 to let us know you are interested. We hope to be commencing training shortly.

There is a brilliant new range of club clothing and gear available from our online shop through O’Neills.com. The link is available from our Facebook or Twitter pages.

NAOMH FIONNBARRA

THERE was no jackpot winner in the Naomh Fionnbarra GFC/St Anne’s Camogie Club lotto last Wednesday after the numbers 10, 13, 19 & 21 were drawn.

The €50 match-three winners were Emma Carroll, Finvoy; Phyllis McGee, Togher Road, Salterstown; and Chris Brennan, c/o Thomas McQuillan. This week’s jackpot stays at €10,000 and tickets are available from the usual local outlets.

The Intermediate team’s next game is against St Fechin’s in the semi-final of the IFC on Saturday at 5.30pm in Pairc Ui Mhuiri, Dunleer. This is the biggest game of the year so far for the lads as they aim to reach the IFC Final. All support is welcome. Up the Barrs!

Louth Ladies lost to Limerick in the All-Ireland JFC Final in Croke Park on Sunday on a scoreline of 5-6 to 0-8. Naomh Fionnbarra Ladies had four girls on the panel - Deirbhle Osborne, Roisin Osborne, Leanne Sharkey and Shauna Markey. Hard luck girls - the club are very proud of you and you were all great ambassadors for the club throughout the year.

Naomh Fionnbarra GFC are hosting a Lip Sync battle fundraising event on Saturday December 29th at the CityNorth Hotel, which promises to be the event of the year. Everyone in the parish is encouraged to support the event.

Supporters of the club can buy club gear directly from the O’Neills website. There are some new items available online.

OLIVER PLUNKETTS

THE under-age groups are experiencing a great surge of success in their respective competitions. All to be congratulated and especially the combined girls team that won the Louth Junior Title. The Plunketts and O’Raghallaighs are combined and they proved too strong for Hunterstown with Emma White being named player of the game.

The “Buy-a-Brick” campaign is in full flow at present and there will be a reporting meeting to update the take up and prepare the coming weeks next Thursday in the Clubhouse at 7.30pm. It is
