ONE year after GoCar first launched in Drogheda, the car sharing provider announced that over 140 people are regular car sharing users in the area. GoCar launched in the city in 2017 to meet demand locally and now has seven cars total in Limerick city.

GoCar is encouraging more Irish drivers to try car sharing as a cost-effective and sustainable transport option alongside public transport, walking and cycling. From the 16th to the 30th of September, GoCar is offering free sign-ups and €10 off first journeys to drivers in Drogheda with a full driving licence. To avail of the offer, join via GoCar.ie and enter promocode MobilityWeek.

Since GoCar launched Ireland’s first car sharing service in 2008, the number of users has grown to over 30,000 nationally, with over 450 cars on Irish roads. There are currently 140 users in Drogheda and three GoCar bases for the area. Last year saw GoCar’s national expansion to over 15 counties in Ireland and the car sharing provider hopes to continue its expansion over the next year.

MD of GoCar Colm Brady commented on the initiative, “We are delighted that people in Drogheda have responded so positively to car sharing in the area. This European Mobility Week, we are encouraging the public to think smart when it comes to their day-to-day transport and consider car sharing as a sustainable and cost-effective option which can be used in conjunction with public transport, walking and cycling to suit their everyday lives.”
