Songbird Theresa McKenna brings unique show to Grey Goose

-

KEEP the first Thursday in October free for a trip to the Songbird Open Mic night in the Bird Cage at the Grey Goose on West Street.

The one and only Theresa McKenna (right) is the brains behind the event and it has proved very popular since the launch in July.

‘We did have it originally as a weekly event in the summer, but now it’s going to be held on the first Thursday of every month. All different genres are welcome. It’s aimed at singers but we have had solo guitarists and pianists play over the few weeks it’s been on,’ Theresa tells me.

‘ We have had jazz singers, musical theatre performers and classical. It’s a good event to try out original music as it’s a quiet crowd and a chilled athmosphere. So really it’s for all musicians.

‘I host the event and if someone wants to sing but doesn’t play piano they can contact me in advance and let me know what songs they would like to sing.

‘We start around 9pm and the next one is on the 4th of October,’ she stated.

Theresa released a wonderful debut single ‘Impossible’ just a few months ago and it got some great reviews.

There is no doubt that the Songbird sessions will prove a big hit throughout the winter.
