COOLEY Kickhams produced a marvellous second half comeback to book their place in the final of the U16 A Championship on Friday night in Darver.
Playing against the wind, Cooley started the game nervously and quickly found themselves behind to four quick points from O’Raghallaighs. An initial score from Tommy McCarragher reduced the margin but four further white flags from the Drogheda side underlined their early superiority.
Gradually, Cooley battled their way into the game with the full back line of Cathal Malone, Paul Brennan and the towering Conor McAvinney leading the way supported by excellent covering work from Cormac Malone and Cian Murphy, and two points from Enda O’Neill and another from the impressive Tommy McCarragher left the peninsula side trailing 8 points to 4 at the break.
O’Raghallaighs started the second half with a blitz of scores including a superbly worked goal and two quick points. With their midfield leader Aaron Carolan off injured and another of their Louth stars Niall Brady out through illness, this left the young Cooley
