Greenhills stress they’re for all ages

-

GREENHILLS Bowls Club spread the word about their strong youth policy on a recent weekend when the Juvenile section held a full promotion day in Drogheda’s Laurence Centre.

They had an enjoyable day talking to their peers about the game, the competitions they play in and the various clubs they travel to, while the members handed out flyers containing the club’s information.

Megan Devin, Junior representative, stated that there is a misconception that indoor bowls is for the older generation - not the case! She added that the club have received a number of enquiries about the game, from seniors and particularly from the younger generation and from the teachers in the town who are interested in having demonstrations in their school to encourage the pupils to take up the sport.

The club cater for all age groups and range from eight years upwards, and she also stressed that all members can choose to play competitively or for fun.

Club chairman Jack Howell would like to thank the Laurence Centre manager for accommodating the club on the day of the promotion and for their hospitality.

On the club front, the Senior Championship Singles will start shortly and all members are encouraged to participate, while the Junior Championship round robin singles will be starting this evening (Tuesday) at 7.15pm sharp.

Six games will be played over nine ends every Tuesday night and the duration of each game will be 30 minutes. Times of play for Juniors are Tuesday 7 to 8.15pm, and for Seniors it’s Tuesday and Thursday from 8.15 to 10pm.
