-

DROGHEDA hot shot Cormac Kerr pocketed the biggest success of his career during the summer when the 18-year-old captured the World Under-23 8-Ball Pool title.

Last year’s European and World Junior champion, Cormac stepped up to the next level, competing in Blackpool against the top 64 players on the planet in his age group, and began by knocking out the 2017 runner-up in the first round.

From there he progressed all the way to the final where he defeated the reigning European Under-23 champion Jack Smithers by eight frames to four.

Next month Cormac turns his attention to competing for Ireland in the Home Nations Championship.

He practises four or five days a week, up to five hours a day, and dreams of joining the sport’s professional circuit in the future.
