Liam Gibney is Emmets star man

-

GLEN Emmets strengthened their chances of taking group honours in the Ranafast Cup with an 0-6 to 0-3 win at Tullyallen on Sunday over Mattock Rangers in a lively match.

The issue was in doubt until the closing minutes when the Emmets had a few scores to leave them on top.

At the half way stage they led by 0-2 to 0-1. Liam Gibney, their burly full -back, was a key figure in the Tullyallen defence, with centrehalf, Anthony Russell, also in good fettle.

Ted Russell impressed at midfield, with Noel Coogan and Fintan McGuinness the most incisive forwards.

Rangers had gallant performers in John Little and Jim King (defence; Tom Moonan (midfield); S. Finnegan and T. Bannon.
