FOLLOWING a packed attendance at the initial “Town Hall” meeting organised by Mayor Frank Godfrey and the Drogheda City Status Group a few weeks ago, the Mayor has announced details of a follow-on meeting to take place at the Westcourt Hotel on Wednesday, October 17th commencing 7.30pm.

“The response from the community in the Greater Drogheda area to the first meeting was phenomenal,” said the Mayor, adding “the fact that the panel of speakers was drawn from the community and that they spoke passionately about their pride in Drogheda and their hopes and aspirations for the future of this great and historic city really connected with the audience. For that reason, I want to hear the views of more people who live in the area – whether they are on the panel or in the audience, and I want politicians of all shades to be there too – they owe it to their constituents to hear their views.”

For the “Town Hall” meeting on October 17th a new panel from different backgrounds will ensure another lively and constructive debate about a vision of Drogheda as it moves from the present into the future. Included on the panel will be local businessman Paul Egan who will talk about teamwork; Liam Reilly on Tourism; Helen Downey on Customer Service and how everyone can be an Ambassador for Drogheda; Emma Coffey on the Ireland 2040 plan and Declan Power, General Manager at the Barbican who will speak about jobs and commuting.

“I am asking everyone to save the date in their diary, and I would appeal to my fellow councillors to attend as well as Oireachtas members in the Louth/East Meath area. East Meath councillors are invited too, as well as members of the local communities there,” concluded Mayor Frank Godfrey.
