Bowls man Thomas wins €45k on Winning Streak

A local retired butcher went from winning steak to Winning Streak last week and managed to bring home the bacon to the tune of €45,000!

Drogheda man Thomas Devin took his turn to spin the iconic Winning Streak grand prize wheel, winning €22,000, bringing his total on the show to €45,000.

It was the perfect end to a great week, in which he was inundated with good luck cards and well wishes from friends and the community in Drogheda where he has lived all his life.

Thomas will turn 70 at the start of next year so can start celebratin­g this milestone birthday early!

Thomas has been married to wife Doreen for the past 46 years and the couple have four daughters, Fiona, Michelle, Sharon and Susan, who all cheered their dad on from the RTE audience on Saturday.

Some of Thomas’s grandchild­ren were also excited to be there, having been busy in school making banners for the show all last week.

Thomas is a butcher by trade and worked for more than 50 years in the profession, spending a few years in Dublin earlier in his career.

He worked in Dolans’ Butchers in Drogheda for more than 20 years before he retired.

A proud pioneer, Thomas frequently plays bowls and a bit of pitch and putt. He is a member of Greenhills Bowl’s club in Drogheda, where he plays twice a week. He is also a local at McBride Pitch and Putt club where he likes to get a game in once or twice a week.
