-

FRESH off the back of glittering success in the recent Tidy Town awards comes the allocation of €42,000 in available grants for Tidy Towns committees here in County Louth towards its future efforts.

The funding is part of a €1.4 million national grant scheme announced by The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Tidy Towns Competition.

This scheme will allow each Tidy Towns committee to apply for a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000 to support their work.

“This investment by the Government will directly support the local Tidy Towns groups. These volunteer- led community initiatives bring out the best in our towns and villages,” says local TD Fergus O’Dowd. €1,000 funding is now avajlable for Annagassan, Ardee, Baltray, Collon, Sandpit, Stabannon, Tallanstown, ; €2,000 is available for Clogherhead, Dunleer, Monasterboice, Termonfeckin, and Tullyallen, and €4,000 for Drogheda.
