AILISH McCartan carded the winning score of 34 pts in last Saturday’s competitio­n. Marian Jordan was pipped on the countback into runner spot while Rosemary Hanratty came third also on 34 pts. Saturday next 13th October we have a Category ABC SF competitio­n with alternate day play available on Thursday. In the Captain’s Prize Stephen Behan was the Gents winner, with the runner-up Mark Fay, and Ann Bird won the Ladies competitio­n, with Esther Andrews in second place.

MACBRIDE P&P

THERE was a wonderful turnout for the first week of MacBride’s Turkey League, with some great scoring in both sections.

The Grade 1 winner was Owen Smith with a score of 42 nett (h/c -2) ob9. Grade 2 was won on the back 3 by Pat Gorman with a score of 40 nett (h/c -10).

Week two is an 18 gross competitio­n. Times of play are Wednesday and Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 10am.

THE weekend’s competitio­n, sponsored by McArdle Carpentry & Building Contractor­s Ltd, saw some great scores, with the winner taking in 43 pts and losing three shots into the bargain, with second and third - on 40 pts - also feeling the edge of the handicappe­r’s knife.

MEMBERS returned last week from another memorable weekend in Bundoran. Management and staff at the Great Northern Hotel once again went out of their way to make the stay as enjoyable as possible. The society’s next outing is to Greenore on Saturday 27th October.

SEAPOINT Pitch & Putt Club was buzzing last weekend for the Captain’s Prize.

This year our Captains are Joanne and Paul Cooney and the Juvenile Captains’ Prize was held on Saturday and the Ladies and Gents on Sunday morning.

Our Captains Joanne and Paul would like to thank everyone for turning up on Sunday morning and making it such a special day. The committee also thanked Joanne and Paul for their lovely refreshmen­ts, prizes and surprises. The winners were as follows: Gents overall Eddie Smith 96½ (ob18 43¼); Ladies overall Christine Carroll 100. Congratula­tions to both players!
