Ivan is Rovers boss

August 1994

FOLLOWING their managerial problems of last year Boyne Rovers have turned to former Drogheda United player, Ivan Harper who has also been closely associated with Boyne Rovers and Glebe North in recent years, in a bid to revive the teams fortunes after relegation last season.

The Balbriggan based Harper will take over from Aidan Farrelly who held the post in a caretaker capacity towards the end of the year, after a number of managers had vacated the post.

Ivan will be assisted by Martin Smith and Frank Flanagan, while Tony McEnteggart will be taking the training, with one of the club’s longest serving members, Noel Matthews, continuing as physio.

Boyne Rovers were relegated last year and will now be competing in the Leinster Senior League Division IA, however they have retained most of that squad, with the addition of Mark Smith who played with Drogheda Utd reserves last season, they are confident of going well.

The B Division side will compete in the Saturday Division I league and will be guided by manager Jimmy Mackle.

The club are also in the middle of a rebuilding programme off the field with the pitch currently under repair, while a new clubhouse is being built.

They have also received permission to develop a piece of land in St. Josephs CBS which they will use for training and also for schoolboy and reserve matches.
