Eugene Wade wins Bendal Cup for ‘More

-

Moneymore United 1 Stackallen 0

Red-haired 21-year-old Eugene Wade was the toast of Moneymore on Sunday evening as he scored the allimportant goal which brought the Bendal Cup to the Drogheda club at their first attempt. The Ballsgrove-based winger finished off the move initiated by Johnny Thornton that floored the luckless Stackallen side in the 70th of a closely fought decider that held the interest of a £400 gate at Parkview.

The Meath side, managed by Mick Wall and like Moneymore, figuring inthe final for the first time, need not be too sespondent by the result as they played their part in the final which from an early stage indicated that a lone goal would decide the issue. April 1984
