BEST WISHES

The best wishes of the Association and Community is extended to all who are hospitalised or ill at this time. We wish you a speedy recovery.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING POSTPONED

The Annual General Meeting of Broomfield and District Residents Association will now take place on Thursday 18th October at 8.00 pm in Teach Raithneach, and not as previously advertised. All Residents are cordially invited to attend.

THE OLD THRESHING MILL

Congratulations, well done, and thanks to John and Betty Anderson and Family, Reaghstown on what can only be described as a thoroughly enjoyable Vintage Threshing Event in their farmyard on Sunday 30th September last.

All proceeds from the event went to the Irish Kidney Association, a very worthy cause indeed. Aside form the Threshing, there was plenty of action, including music, song and dance. It was great to handle the corn, chaff and straw, and savor the aroma. I don’t suppose that chaff is used for ticks anymore!

There was beautiful food-aplenty, all home prepared, which was greatly appreciated by those in attendance. Although very labour intensive in its day, threshing the corn was, and still is, an integral part of our heritage and culture. Its great to see it being maintained, thanks to people like John and Betty. A miniature, to scale, Steam Engine and Threshing Mill, skillfully made by John himself was also on display, and in perfect working order too. If you didn’t have the opportunity to attend this event in previous years, then keep an eye out for it next year, you won’t be disappointed.

A family friendly day, not to be missed. Buiochas aris John, Betty and Family.
