THE ladies of the Sacred Heart School remain the undisputed champions of the Boomerang Café’s annual Warrior Shield Fittest Team Challenge, after a marathon day of events at Clogherhead Beach!

The students were determined to make it a hattrick of wins to retain the Warrior Shield they have lifted since 2016, after battling it out with pupils from three other local schools on Thursday October 4th.

Each team consisted of 15 students who completed a series of fitness, endurance and stamina challenges in order to compete for the title.

Energy, enthusiasm and most of all teamwork were the order of the day.

Celtic Adventures organised all the difficult challenges on the beach to really test the fitness and mental capabilities of the young participants.

Thank you so much to Dave & his team for organising this fantastic fitness event

“There was a great atmosphere, and competition was fierce to see who would win this year,”explains Nicky Reddy from Celtic Adventures, who hosted the event.

“It was between the Sacred Heart, St Joseph’s CBS, Scoil ui Mhuiri and Ballymakenny College, but the girls really worked as a team to make it three in a row,” she explains.

Celtic Adventures and Boomerang staff were joined by teachers from all the schools involved for a fun-filled day of land-based activities.

“It was a fun filled day that had the students and teachers alike reacting and competing with excitement, fun and determination. The overall winners were once again the fantastic team from the Sacred Heart, and they met each challenge with good humour, grit and determination – their team spirit and ability to work together were amazing. Well done, you really deserved to win,” adds Gerardine from Boomerang.

“The team from St Joseph’s C.B.S. came in a close second – congratulations team CBS - their energy, team spirit & co-operation were brilliant.

Adam Soran, an outstanding athlete and leader claimed the Warrior Shield’s new trophy for 2018 as he won the Best Youth Leadership Award. Well done Adam.

They all agree that Ballymakenny College gave it their all.

“Again they showed fantastic team spirit and met each challenge with fun and enthusiasm,” she says. Their team Spirit was so amazing that they won another new trophy – Warrior Shields Best Team Spirit Award.

‘ Their fitness, stamina & ability deserved to be rewarded.
