Super Sheridan strikes gold for Ardee again
ABBIE Sheridan claimed her second Louth Cross-Country Championship gold medal in the space of a week when she claimed the U-17 honours at the Uneven Age competition in Sunday sunshine at DkIT.
In a race merged with the Under-19 and Ladies 4,000m, the Ardee & District runner came home to tremendous applause to land her second title of the championships. Following close behind were two of her clubmates - and newcomers - senior athletes Michelle Lynch and Yvonne Callan who both ran exceptionally well.
Four of Ardee & District’s dynamic boys - Oran Lynch, Alex Callan, Daniel Cirdei and Tom Joe McCormack - ran in the Under-9 500m and did exceptionally well to take four of the top 10 medal positions, with Oran winning the silver.
Arde & District’s U-11s took to the field next, running 1500m, and Jessica McCarron put in an impressive performance out of age, while her brother Dylan McCarron and Arthur Sands were equally impressive when coming home in the top 10 in the Boys U-11 1500m. Jack McCarron and Charlie Sands took to the field next in the U-13 2,500m, which saw Jack come home in eighth position and Charlie - running out of age - finish with a smile.
Rebecca McCarron and Hallie Sands were in action in the U-15 3,500m and both put in a steady performance over what is a challenging distance.
