John Mitchel’s are delighted to announce that we are hosting a show by the online celebrity ‘Rory’s Stories’ in the Nuremore Hotel, Carrickmac­ross, on Saturday December 8th at 9pm.

John Mitchel’s are commencing the process of developing our facilities with an indoor playing hall, dressing rooms etc. We will be running various fund-raising events and would urge everyone to come on board and support these efforts as the whole community will benefit from this developmen­t.

MILLMOUNT HANDBALL

THE club will hold its AGM on Wednesday 24th October at 7pm in the pheasant function room all delegates and players are requested to attend.

Congrats to Georgia Feeley who defeated a strong field of contenders to win our juvenile top ace score competitio­n with a fine top score of 14 aces well done.

The All-Ireland 60x30 softball doubles finals will take place next Saturday at croke park handball centre. Club players and supporters wishing to attend the finals should contact our club secretary asap to book their tickets, adults cost €20, juveniles oap €10.

The lucky winner of our €50 club lottery bonus ball draw last week was David Farrelly.

Our club fundraisin­g clothing appeal is going very if you have any unwanted coats, belts, handbags, shoes etc please bring them along to coke community hall reception or you can contact Maria 0879821594 on to arrange for collection thank you.

Club players and supporters wishing to purchase new 40x20 handballs for their training can do so by contacting our club secretary the cost is €7 each.

NAOMH FIONNBARRA

NUMBERS drawn in last Wednesday’s lotto were 7, 8, 12 & 26. There were two match-three winners of €75 each - Gerard & Patricia Sheridan, Drumcar; and Marylin Matthews, Ardsallon. The jackpot stays at €10,000. Tickets are available from the usual local outlets, Lotto sellers and committee members.

Intermedia­te team manager Paddy White has stepped down after a two-year spell. Under his tenure the team reached two IFC semi finals and two league playoff semis and were unlucky not to progress further.

Naomh Fionnbarra GFC would like to thank Paddy and the team selectors for the commitment and effort they gave. Paddy had a very positive influence on the team and was a pleasure to work with, and we wish him every success in the future.

Naomh Fionnbarra have now begun the process of putting a new Intermedia­te management team in place for 2019. If interested please contact a club committee member.

Naomh Fionnbarra are holding a Halloween Junior Disco in Dillonstow­n Hall this Friday. It’s Fancy Dress, with prizes for the best dressed and a tuck shop. All proceeds are in aid of Lip Sync.

Naomh Fionnbarra GFC and St. Anne’s Camogie Club are hosting their Lip Sync battle fund-raising event on Saturday 29th December at CityNorth Hotel which promises to be the event of the year. The main sponsor for the event - Connect Credit Union - is now on board.

NEWTOWN BLUES

in NUMBERS drawn in last week’s lotto were 8, 12, 16, 28, the €25 winners were Breda Montague, JC, Ciaran Judge jnr. AH and Bobby & Rusty. This Tuesday’s jackpot stands at €5,500.

Thanks to our senior men’s team who took some time out of their Championsh­ip Final match preparatio­ns to have a bit of fun with the young players. The younger members were keen to show off the silverware they’ve won this year to the senior team.

A massive thanks to Kieran Carr who is unbelievab­le in capturing these special moments for our members.

Well done to the U-15 boys who finished off the season with a draw away in Dromiskin. Yet again it was a game of two halves where we woke up in the second period and played much better as a team. It finished Newtown Blues 3-6 St Joseph’s 2-9.

Hard luck to the ladies who lost out to a nippy Clans side in the Division 3 League Final. A special note of thanks to Sarah who really carried the girls with some great scores.

THE Sean O’Mahony’s/Na Piarsaigh/Dowdallshi­ll U15’s had a super victory over Naomh Fionnbarra/Lannleire in the U15 semi final on Monday evening on the Point Road, on a final scoreline of 5-8 to 2-7. The Dundalk side got off to good start in the first half with Scott Hearty notching a hatrick to help them to a 3-5 to 3 point interval lead. Further second half goals from Ciaran Redmond and substitute Brendan Waiharo helped the home side to a 10 point victory. Hopefully we will have a big crowd in Darver next Monday night at 7.30 for the final against the Wolfe Tones. It was great to see Oisin Breen make his comeback off the bench, returning after breaking his arm at county training during the summer. Preperatio­n are underway for the screening of the movie Hocus Pocus, for our Halloween movie Night on Oct 29th, the Bank Holiday Monday, on the SOM pitch at 6pm. Prizes for kids in best Halloween costumes. ADM €5 only, pay on entry on the night at the gate.

Huge congratula­tions to the girls of St Marys Parish Primary School who won the Cumman na Mbunscol Corn Oriel Championsh­ip. It was a super effort by all and well done Mr Hanlon and Ms Redden.
