Zara shoots her way to Shield win
ZARA Woofson outshot the field to scoop the Flogas Perpetual Shield for 2018, the top prize in the Flogas Clay Pigeon Summer League run by Bellewstown Game and Wildlife Club.
It was her first time to win the League and at the final she shot an impressive 158 ex 160 points to capture the shield, followed closely by Graham McCreddin (156pts), with the top 12 completed by John Ennis (142), Davin McCormack (141), Peter Maxon (137), Shaun McCormack (131), Richard Martin (130), Vincent Doran (126), Frank Cullen (105), Ken Murray (103), Johnny Dickson (94) and Nigel Maxon (91).
The overall standings are based on overall points scored in the five competitions that make up the League.
The Alfie Fynes Perpetual Cup was won by Graham McCreddin, the PJ Conway Perpetual Cup by John Ennis, the Willie Irwin Perpetual Cup by Shaun McCormack, the Flogas Perpetual Cup by Zara Woofson and the Pat Fallon Perpetual Cup by Davin McCormack.
Robert Irwin from Flogas presented the prizes and he said: ‘Well done to Zara on becoming overall champion for 2018, and to all the Perpetual Cup winners.
‘It was a very close competition this year. Due to the high standard of marksmanship, numerous exciting shoot-offs were necessary to decide the winners of the individual perpetual cups throughout the summer.’
