Man faces dole charges

Jurisdiction has been refused by the district court in the case of a man accused of dole fraud amounting to more than €16,000.

Mohammad Bashir (62), Scarlet Street, Drogheda, is charged with theft and deception of social welfare payments of €16,844.

He was arrested on 22 May, 2018; having made a successful application for Jobseekers’ Allowance on 8 June, 2017.

Solicitor Barry Callan indicated his client will go forward to the circuit court on signed pleas of guilty.

The case was adjourned to 26 October for that purpose
