Dowth Point to Point will showcase the best in local produce

-

SOME of Ireland’s top chefs are set to cook up a storm at the Dowth Point-to Point and Country Fair this weekend.

Guests are invited to tickle their taste buds at this year’s Dowth Point-to-Point and Country Fair on Sunday October 28th - with Michelin star chef Richard Corrigan and Eoin Gilchrist and Kris Kodric from the award-winning Tankardstown House, being named amongst the culinary talent appearing live at the Meath event.

Having grown-up on a farm in County Meath and gone on to achieve international acclaim, Richard Corrigan will be returning to his roots and delighting guests at The Food Theatre where he will host a masterclass on how to cook delicious, seasonal game.

Renowned for his exquisite dishes using high-quality local ingredients and his support for independent suppliers, Richard’s demonstration is sure to be one of the day’s most anticipated highlights.

Visitors can also witness first-hand the expertise of the chef team from the luxurious Tankardstown House in Meath. Chefs Eoin Gilchrist and Kris Kodric will perfect a flavoursome scallop and black pudding dish followed by a cappuccino panna cotta – making use of great Boyne Valley Food produce.

Fresh off the back of recent wins at Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards, Hugh Maguire Butchers will be on site, hosting a live demonstration on how to cook the perfect steak. Peter Whelan of The Whole Hogg, recently a finalist in the same awards, and chef Killian Donoghue, will be on hand to showcase their range of artisan pork products.

Hungry racegoers can also feast their eyes on a wide-range of goods from more than 30 artisan food producers in the Discover Boyne Valley Flavours Marquee. Guests can expect the likes of Urban India, Boyne Valley Farm Cheese, Olive Pork and beverages from Slane Irish Whiskey and The Cider Mill. The Cottage Market & Grow it Yourself Drogheda will also be on site, selling the very best of food, arts and crafts from local talent. “The fair is always a fantastic day out for the whole family and a great opportunity for visitors to experience the flavours of our region and get a real taste of the Boyne Valley,” Executive Chairman of Devenish Owen Brennan said. “Showcasing the hard work of passionate farmers, award-winning chefs, and food and drinks producers, is at the heart of the fair and we’re delighted to host a wide range of talent at our special location in Dowth again this year,”
