Anne Marie Reilly stars
DUNLEER AC has achieved top recognition by having two of its members chosen by the GCLO as cross country athletes of the year — 15 year-old David Carrie and 16 year-old Anne Marie Reilly.
They were picked out of 13,000 registered athletes in 27 counties, the first time Dunleer has had two chosen in the same year. Over the past four years the club has had one althlete honoured and last year in the girls under 15 group it was Anne Marie Reilly.
This year she won the girls under 16 cross country at national level as well as the 800 and 1500 metres track events while David was victor in the boys under 15 cross country and second in the under 16 event. On the track he took the under 15 1500 title. Both represented Ireland at a track meet in Brussels and won their events.
