The song was written by a duo with considerable songwriting and performing pedigree - Jeff Barry (who co-wrote sixties superhits ‘Then He Kissed Me’, ‘Be My Baby’, ‘Baby I Love You’ and ‘River Deep Mountain High’) and Andy Kim (who reached No. 1 in 1974 with the classic ‘Rock Me Gently’). A million seller, ‘Sugar, Sugar’ spent four weeks on top of the Billboard charts in the US and eight weeks at No. 1 in the UK.
