Hannah determined to do Christmas run

- By ALISON COMYN

PLANS to return Hannah ‘ The Warrior Princess’ to her home in Drogheda are continuing apace, and with her new van on the road, she will hopefully be settled back in the family home soon.

While she is still recovering slowly and relying on doctors to give her the best chance she can get, the Newfield teen is determined to not let this stop her own generosity by again bringing Christmas presents to children in the Lourdes Hospital.

PLANS to return Hannah ‘ The Warrior Princess’ to her home in Drogheda are continuing apace, and with her new van on the road, she will hopefully be settled back in the family home soon.

While she is still recovering slowly and relying on doctors to give her the best chance she can get, the Newfield teen is determined to not let this stop her own generosity.

The next project for Hannah is already up and running, and she needs your help to make it as successful and special as it has been in the past. Every year Hannah helps gather presents to be delivered by Santa Claus to every child on the 5th floor children’s ward of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.

This year, her family and friends plan to take the weight off her shoulders and collect the presents for her.

“She is an extraordinary young woman with so much heart, she wants the children in hospital to enjoy their Christmas, regardless of where they are spending it,” says Nicola Bedford, who has worked tirelessly through the year to raise funds for Hannah’s return. “So, we’re inviting everyone, whether in schools or businesses, to take part in the 50-cent appeal, because we are aware places already have plans in place to help other people at Christmas, this appeal gives you the opportunity to help both.”

The 50-cent appeal requires every person taking part to donate 50 cents. Just 30 people donating 50 cent is enough to raise €15 euro for a present for an unwell child. On Sunday 16th of December Hannah’s committee members will be dressing up and hand delivering the presents along with Santa Claus to each child.

“Spending Christmas in hospital is not a nice feeling for anyone, especially not children, and from infants to 16-yearolds, some simply aren’t in good enough health to be at home,” explains Nicola.

“It is heart- warming for these children to know the people of their community think of them. They feel lonely sometimes, so it’s good for them to feel special.”

Hannah has spent some Christmas’ in hospital, yet her family and friends say she has always kept a smile on her face, benefitting the other children through her extraordinary enthusiasm. “We would roughly need around €25.00 per present,” explains Nicola, “so, if you and your business, school or workplace would like to get involved please get in contact on our facebook page Hannah The Warrior Princess Event.
