Dou­ble suc­cess

THERE’S dou­ble de­light for Col­lon pi­ano teacher Kate McCaf­ferty, who has had two stu­dents re­ceive ac­co­lades from the Royal Ir­ish Acad­emy of Mu­sic (RIAM).

Twins Ni­amh and Sinead Byrne are de­lighted to have been cho­sen to re­ceive Royal Ir­ish Acad­emy of Mu­sic (RIAM) High Achiever Awards for their im­pres­sive per­for­mance of pi­ano duet, Al­le­gro from Sonata for Four Hands K381 by W. A. Mozart at their Lo­cal Cen­tre Ex­am­i­na­tion held in Teach Raith­neach, Stari­nagh, Col­lon ear­lier this year.

High Achiever Awards are given to stu­dents whose RIAM exam re­sults are in the top 1% coun­try­wide.

Stu­dents who meet these cri­te­ria are then in­vited to au­di­tion for the op­por­tu­nity to per­form at the RIAM High Achiev­ers Awards Cer­e­mony Con­cert.

The Se­nior Ex­am­in­ers at the RIAM were again im­pressed with Ni­amh and Sinead’s au­di­tion and have cho­sen them to be among the per­form­ers at the High Achiev­ers Awards Cer­e­mony which will be held in Co. Car­low in Novem­ber.
