Tiny Tykes takes off at the Drogheda Leisure Park

-

A NEW sporting element has come to Drogheda with the establishment of the Tiny Tykes soccer coaching programme.

Local woman Lauren McGinn has taken up running the series, created by American company Challenger Sports.

‘ The aim of the programme is to introduce children aged 18-months to 5 years to football as well as develop their physical literacy skills before they enter the football club system. I spent the summer in America working with Challenger Sports coaching the TinyTykes programme on their summer camps.

‘I have been involved in coaching many different sports around Drogheda so I believed that a programme like that would really take off in Drogheda because there are not many activities in the town for that age. I bought into the TinyTykes franchise to set up in Drogheda initially,’ Lauren adds.

Each class sees the children brought on a journey based on a theme of the week. Each child will be given a TinyTykes Passport where they get a sticker at the end of each journey and they can document their progress while attending classes.

‘We are running classes on Sundays in Drogheda Leisure Park, beginning on the 4th November and St Oliver’s Primary School beginning the 8th November,’ she states. More details at website roi.challengersports.com/drogheda.
