Joseph Reynolds and life in a WWI submarine
THE death occurred in the early 70s of Joseph Reynolds from Mornington, who worked as the pilot with Drogheda Port for many years.
What a life he had - At the age of 14, he signed on as a seaman on the “Colleen Bawn,” trading then to and from Drogheda. Afterwards he joined the Navy in World War I and served on submarine duty.
His brother, Freddy, went down on a blazing ship called ‘ The Monmouth’. Was his submarine adventures ever told I wonder?
