Competitor­s struggled in trying conditions during the two-lady Surprise Team event last Saturday. However scoring was respectabl­e and the winning pair were Kay McCartan and Aideen McGahon with 26 pts.

The midweek 12-hole stableford competitio­n continues Sunday to Friday. Saturday next 10th November is a 12-hole Singles stableford competitio­n. BRS opens as usual for booking on Wednesday prior at 7pm.

The Ladies agm takes place in the clubhouse on Friday 30th November at 7.30pm.

THE latest round of MacBride’s Turkey League took place last week and was an 18 nett scotch foursomes competitio­n. The winning duo was Darren Dooley & Owen Smith with a fantastic score of 38 nett (h/c 3).

This week’s competitio­n will be an 18 nett singles - times of play Wednesday and Saturday at 1.30pm and Sunday at 10am.

Congratula­tions to Sean Goggin who shot a magnificen­t final round of 41 to win the Senior title in the Dublin Scratch Cup Series.

WEEK four of the Winter League produced a spectacula­r round by Stephen McGarvey, starting with a front nine of 18 points, then a back nine of six pars, two birdies and an unfortunat­e no score on 14 which had Stephen signing for a fantastic 44 points.

Michael McCartan had a round that would win on most weekends with 40 points, and one of Mannan Castle rising young stars Padraig McEneaney was third with 38.

The Mannan Castle Captains’ Scramble was held on the October Bank Holiday Monday, kindly sponsored by David and Karen Forrester.

The winning team, with a score of 54.9 nett, was David MacGuinnes­s, Louise Hanratty, David Hanratty and Gene McEnroe.

Second, with a nett 55.9, were Con Hanneffy, Alex Hanneffy, David Flynn and Sean O’Hagen; while third - with a nett 56.2 - were Ryan Finley, Seamus Whelan, Stephen Whelan and John Hanratty.

Our Captains’ Charity Scramble raised a total of €1,400. The beneficiar­ies are Carrick Cancer and the Diabetes Unit in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.
