Chord Celtic Togher Celtic 4 4

Playing before a large attendance Chord Celtic and Togher Celtic shared eight goals in what was probably the best game played at this venue.

Togher dominated the first half, with Pat Hand and Liam Callan causing a lot of trouble for the home defence. Within half an hour they took a 3-1 lead, with goals from Liam Callan, Mick Hand and Pat Hand, while Joe Brogan replied for Chord. John Hartnett gave Chord hope for the second half with a good goal just before half time. Chord attacked strongly throughout the second half in search of an equaliser, but to their dismay it was Togher who scored again with a good goal from Jimmy O’Friel.

With twenty minutes remaining Pat Downey scored a good goal for Chord to reduce the arrears to a single goal. Chord now put enormous pressure on the Togher defence and got the elusive equaliser when Paddy Mooney headed home from a corner kick with four minutes remaining.

In the last minute Chord almost got the winner when Joe Brogan hit the crossbar. Ray Faulkner, Paul Reilly and Tom Rock played well for Chord, while Jimmy Conally, Kevin Hand, Dessie Collon and Martin Neary did well for Togher.
